Mahindra South Africa is a fully-owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra of India, which was established in 1945. Mahindra SA is celebrating its 15th year of operations in South Africa, since its establishment in October 2004, and since then, the company has sold approx. 50 000 vehicles. It’s one of the fastest growing automotive brands in South Africa.
Mahindra South Africa is currently into 3 business in South Africa, with a strong presence in the Automotive segment, this is supported by the Construction Equipment Business which retails the Backhoe Loaders – Mahindra EarthMaster and the Mahindra Powerol business which retails the Diesel Generators and the Mahindra Engines. The Mahindra Tractors would be the 4th business under the Mahindra SA portfolio.
The company has an assembly facility in Durban and dealers in all the nine provinces of South Africa, which are comprehensive facilities that handle Sales, Service and Spare parts. With 68 dealerships, in cities and in towns across Southern Africa, Mahindra has a growing national footprint that is moving ever deeper into communities as they continue in their drive to offer value-for-money products and services to their customers.
The company has also expanded into other sub-Saharan countries, currently exporting vehicles to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland and Namibia.

Mahindra Research Valley
The Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) bears testimony to the Mahindra Group’s commitment, to technology-driven innovation. The facility houses engineering research and product development wings for automobiles and tractors, all under one roof. The state-of-the-art MRV facility, was inaugurated by His Excellency, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Honorable Former President of India.
The R&D center has several facilities including a world class Engine Development Center (EDC), NVH lab, Fatigue Test Lab, alternate fuels, passenger safety and polymer technology labs, to name a few. MRV has completely equipped proto shops to support the development and research in new products and new technologies and has the test tracks, to check the reliability of vehicles and tractors.
